What is cold process soapmaking?
Cold process soapmaking is a method of creating soap by combining fats or oils with a strong base at room temperature. Unlike the hot process method, which is faster but requires external heat, cold process soapmaking involves a longer curing time.
At Savonnerie Basant, we use the cold process method with organic vegetable oils as the base. This slower approach helps preserve the beneficial properties of natural ingredients while producing gentle, moisturizing soaps due to the formation of vegetable glycerin during the process.
Where do you deliver?
We currently deliver throughout mainland France, either to your home or to a pick-up point.
Where can I buy your soaps?
You can purchase our soaps on the Savonnerie Basant website or through our partner retailers (see the dedicated page online).
Where are the soaps made?
Our soaps are artisanally crafted in Alsace, in the town of Saint-Louis, at the heart of the tri-border region.
Why don’t you use fragrances?
Avoiding fragrances in our soaps ensures they are gentler and suitable for sensitive skin. Added fragrances can contain allergens and skin-irritating chemicals. Choosing fragrance-free soaps helps avoid allergic reactions and promotes healthier skin.
Why choose organic vegetable oils?
We prioritize organic vegetable oils because they are more natural and pure. These oils, often cold-pressed, better retain their skin-benefiting properties. Additionally, they are cultivated without harmful chemical pesticides, making them more environmentally and health-friendly.
Are Savonnerie Basant soaps suitable for sensitive or problematic skin?
Our soaps are specially designed to be gentle and suitable for sensitive skin. We use organic vegetable oils in our cold process soapmaking method and avoid fragrances and additives that could cause irritation.
However, every skin is unique and may react differently to certain ingredients. We recommend consulting a skincare professional with the ingredient list provided on our website or soap packaging to ensure compatibility with your skin type.
